How Community Allowed Me To Breathe Once More

-Can you remember a time when someone lent you a hand, gave you a word, or shared a hopeful thought that shifted your situation? You were in a rough patch, and that moment or action turned it around?
Love is the most powerful and healing gift humans have been endowed with. In Acts 3:6 we see how Peter experienced, one more time, God's love for His people through him: " I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Peter felt so much compassion for this man, lame from birth, that out of a deep flowing love, God's power manifested through miraculous healing!

I remember as if it was yesterday how, when Mom passed and created this big hole in my life, a bunch of friends extended a financial offering to help us with the funeral expenses; and how a dear close friend, by taking care of the Memorial program in her hands, lessened my overwhelm. Our family came from everywhere- California, Puerto Rico, and New York- to ease our sorrows and hug us through this time. Any separation, either from your loved ones (through death or disagreements), from your belongings, from your identity, can take a deep toll on anyone; but when the presence and warmth of community kicks in, people can breathe once more. I did. We did. God was with me, with us, through people. The Holy Spirit breathed on us, just like Jesus “breathed on them with the words 'Receive the Holy Spirit'." (Jn 20:22) (Big sigh!)

I am also familiar with homelessness for I have closely seen some of mine hopelessly struggle...
Indeed, for a family close and dear to my heart, it was a job loss that threw them into a homeless situation, jumping from one family house to another, and sleeping in their car. Another of my family members temporarily stayed in his car after divorcing. With help, they did breathe, too.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR SHARE OF LOVE?
'Betsy' may go through domestic violence and have to escape empty-handed, with no other choice than to hit the streets unsheltered and survive. 'Leo' may develop complications during a surgery, draining all his savings and never be able to go back to work, using his car as a shelter.
More than ready to be healed and get back on their feet, I am confident in saying they have been praying for you, for a caring temporary 'push'.

You are part of this and God's community. When one of our own is hurting, when one of our own is in need,  community rallies around and for people. Being cohesive and showing up as a loving village to lift a life up is what we're called to.
Relief and transformation for that homeless battered woman or divorced is on the way. And, I pray is sooner than later!

We've been called to be agents of change and transformation in a world in dire need of Jesus' manifestation through us! I say, let's use our love power! Through community, the Holy Spirit breathes pure emotional and spiritual oxygen!

Thanks for partnering with those who are hurting and are without a home through The Phileo House.
Thanks Holy Spirit, for your work in us , so we can extend the oxygen to those who can't breathe without help.

Hello!👋🏼 I am Luna and I belong to the Lopez Family. I asked my grandma Maribel if I could be The Phileo House mascot and, guess what? She said yes!! I am only 4 1/2 years old, but don't underestimate me, my age does not reflect my love-giving,  barking-protective  nature and M.O. Yep, I feel like a huge Great Dane  guardian dog, ready to protect the world.
And, you know what else? I've been thinking about how my 14-lbs  black, brown, white and gray regal body is so pampered and well cared by my family and every person who enters our home, no questions asked.
Between my grooming sessions, splendid splashy baths with organic soap, super healthy food and filtered water, walks and exercise with my doggy friends, massages, licking experiences, physical exams, etc.  I've become a little princess in our house! You get the point.

But, realistically and sadly speaking, I think I may be doing much better than many humans out there living in their cars, abandoned buildings, without a belly-rub,  love, a home and protection from the elements.  I constantly hear from my family that people have a big heart, full with the love of God, and I don't have a hair of a doubt about it at all. So, as I become The Phileo House pet, I ask you to join me in wagging your tail , love, care and protect them through our future Phileo House.  Would you? It will be so much fun! Thanks, my human friends! ❤ Woof, woof... Luna.

Let's welcome Luna as our loving mascot and join her and all of us here in extending Christ love to the unsheltered.

We can do this together!   What do you think?
💟 Leave us your comments below,
your words of love and even ideas. We are grateful for you!

Acts 20:35 Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said,
'It is more blessed to give than to receive'.

The One Stone that Gives Us Victory

Picture1 Samuel 17:49-51
Many people have asked me why get involved in the 'slow cooking mess' of building a home for the unsheltered. And others, including people in ministry positions, have resoundingly discouraged me. I get their point and concerns. I do. I had and still have some, too. This maze-like work will require a strong spine, trust, and faith, both in God and in the human heart, along with lots of forbearance and teamwork. I will also have to face my own demons.
Right now, it truly feels like I am already losing the fierce battle against this 6-9 foot giant of Goliath.

BUT GOD...
...reminds me that David, the 'little' guy with the 'least chance', but with a solid understanding of and intimacy with God, won. He sang victory!

... gracefully brings to mind that He has placed the same burden in other people's hearts so we can collaborate as a powerful community and Kingdom agents against hopelessness, depression, suicide, and other dark snares. And here you are.

...keeps highlighting the mighty power of the righteous prayer (what a supernatural bomb) to my spirit; and the unlimited power of He who lives in me... in you... in all of us.

... simply asked , I said yes. (you can read the story here)

Therefore, my response to the intial question, the doubting voices, and concerns is a trusting "BUT GOD". Am I fearful and insecure in my humanity? Yes! But God has given me/us, not a stone to throw at the uncircumcised terror-provoking giant, but a "Rock", JesusChrist, The Rock! He will make a way and do what He has promised. I've seen how, when He shows up, nothing can stand His power nor His indomitable love for the brokenhearted, the sick, the imprisoned, and poor. I saw healing and saving miracles during my practice of  Medicine, and, expectantly, I will continue witnessing them. Miracles are Jesus' specialty.

You  are a David, beloved. We are. And we can defeat such giants when we trust the power of 'The Rock' who lives inside us. As we continue to design, strategize and walk united,  would you help us throw that ROCK right into Goliath's head to witness his giantness fall face downward before us?

Goliath will fall, (the Son of) David will always shine. He has already!

As Jesus calls us friends, so do we call you the same. Our militia in the Kingdom has the advantage already. So, Thank you, thank you, thank you for marching with us at the Phileo House! We soon hope to see the grin of hope on many faces whose burden was too much to carry alone and before long  "have an ornament of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness , the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." (Isaiah 61:3).

We can't wait to open our Phileo doors.

1 Samuel 17:49-51
He reached into his bag and took out a stone, which he slung at Goliath. It hit him on the forehead and broke his skull, and Goliath fell face downward on the ground. And so, without a sword, David defeated and killed Goliath with a sling and a stone! He ran to him, stood over him, took Goliath's sword out of its sheath, and cut off his head and killed him.

Hi, I am Dr.Maribel, Founder of The Phileo House!
The maximum expression of love is giving your life for another person. That's what a guy named Jesus did two centuries ago on a cross.  He is our Saviour. He is our CEO. He is God. He asks little of us: to co-labor with Him in stretching His outmatched love to the world, even our 'enemies'. This is our little grain of sand in His Kingdom... to be present and alleviate the suffering through a House with a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26) as He has taught us to. May your innermost being flow springs and rivers of living water as you read our writings from The Phileo's  heart. Blessings.
